11 AM FRIDAY - We arrived at Pole Creek Trailhead at 5200’ picked up a wilderness permit and followed the Pole Creek Trail 1.4 miles to the Green Lakes Trail junction at 5840’. We then turned South for 1.6 miles to the Chambers Lake trail (5740’), and then traveled Southwest on the Chambers Lake Trail for approximately 1.8 miles where we went cross country towards camp (using GPS route below.) 3:00 PM FRIDAY - We arrived at camp area at 6280’ at the toe of the Hayden Glacier just at tree line. There was no one else in the area and we had teh mountain to ourselves. 8 AM SATURDAY - After Mike Grady and Mike Murphy experimented with reconstituted freeze-dried eggs (not recommended) we headed for the Hayden glacier about 1,100 ft above us. The plan was to split into two teams with one going up the Glacier and the other going North around prouty point on scree slopes. The second team (Mike Grady & mike Gabe) found that route blocked by a large lake that went all the way to the steep Northern face of hatden glacier. We all regouped and decided to make it a glacier and Ice class. we practiced glacier travel as a rope team and two-tooling. 3 PM Saturday (or so)Climbers return to camp. 9 AM Sunday - We break camp and head back to the trailhead. NOON SUNDAY - We arrive back at the trailhead and then head to the town of Sisters for lunch at the Depot Deli and Cafe - 250 W Cascade Ave. Sisters, OR 541-549-2572. About 4 PM SUNDAY - We arrived back at Niemeyer's.
